Gail Thomas- Operations Director of The Business Cafe shares her thoughts on Peterborough and why she wants to bring The Business Cafe to this town
PETERBOROUGH. My adopted home. Came for a year in 1989, never really left! Now my family and I are settled, call it home and mean it (and we’ve lived a pretty peripatetic life). So our Business Cafe would be in Peterborough, my sons want to work there (though their pre-teenage at the moment!) my husband wants to expand his social life there and I’ll love catching up with all the people I know locally but don’t see enough of because there’s never enough time(!) when I pop in for a cuppa on my way to The Oculist, John Lewis or Clarke’s for supper.
Don’t get me wrong, we’ve a lovely study at home and lots of people have been to ours for a meeting. Virtual PA Co (my first ever business venture which launched in 2001) has on office on Fengate and everyone is always made welcome there, it’s gorgeous with its fresh flowers and posh biccies, so why do I want or need a Business Cafe?
There’s something really appealing to me about a sweet hit of ‘business social’ whenever I feel like it, a quick coffee and a bit o chat, a fix on my phone or a back up of my piccies courtesy of a digital apprentice while I chat in a relaxing environment, all on the high street, so I don’t feel isolated and still can pick up milk, bread (and wine?) on the way home.
So, that’s why I want mine, why do you want yours?
